Hopefully this blog series provides some useful information in terms of what equity release is, its pro’s and con’s and whether it’s safe to consider in 2023?

I know that it’s a bit scary contemplating a loan against your house, and the potential pitfalls of this as a strategy to facilitate retirement. I’m basically anti debt in retirement – it’s so much better to be debt free, both from a cash flow perspective but also psychologically and mentally.

However, as someone that did decide to use equity release to facilitate my retirement, I can honestly say that this commitment doesn’t bother me too much and certainly doesn’t keep me awake at night.

I would advise taking advice from professionals, friends, and family. Along with careful consideration of your own circumstances and of course the market conditions.
